ICAO Language Proficiency Tests at the AERO 2024

All exams qualify as initial and renewal exams. But it is as well the ideal opportunity for everyone who wants to upgrade their ICAO language proficiency level!

Thanks to the „fall back" examination system, each candidate will be checked for a Level 6 and if the language competency shown, does not match Level 6, then ICAO Level 5 or Level 4 will be issued. With this there is no risk of failing the exam.

The exam consists of two parts: first you will be asked 16 or 18 aviation-related questions (no technical questions!!), to each of which you will answer briefly and informally. This includes 2 picture descriptions, spelling according to the NATO alphabet, reading out radio frequencies with emphasis on ICAO phraseology and listening to 2 radio messages. Within the second part of the exam, you will have a little conversation with the examiner for 10 to 15 minutes.

You will receive your certificate via email within the next working day.

The different types of exams are tailored to your previous knowledge: there is an exam specifically designed for student pilots, but also LAPL, SPL and PPL holders and of course CPL and ATPL holders will go through a custom tailored exam based on their level of experience.
