About me

Thomas Mayer is the managing director of the Association of Regional Airports (IDRF e.V.), representing 78 airports, air navigation service providers, and over 50 other airport partners. He is also the Secretary of the European Regional Aerodromes Community (ERAC), which includes more than 130 aerodromes and their partners.

With a background as a civil engineer and airline pilot, Mayer is active in business jets and works as a flight instructor and examiner. He is actively involved in numerous technical and political committees at both the national and international levels, including the German Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Union (EU), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Within ICAO, he is a member of the Flight Operations Panel, the Instrument Flight Procedures Panel (IFPP), and the Obstacle Limitation Surfaces Task Force (OLSTF) for Airports Council International (ACI). He also serves as an advisor to Germany at the Aerodrome Design and Operations Panel (ADOP).
