About me

Rachel McKay has five decades of experience in the aviation industry. Her career began with training as a certified aircraft mechanic at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg. Since then, she has worked with approximately 100 different aircraft types from around 20 manufacturers. Over the course of her career, she held leadership positions at renowned companies such as Lufthansa, LTU, and Airbus Industrie. As a Type Rating Instructor (TRI), she shared her expertise in complex aircraft systems and earned her own pilot's license in 1980, which she used until 2012 as a part-time pilot. Since 1993, Rachel McKay has run her own consulting company, which has specialized in strategic consulting for aviation companies since 2001. She managed a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) and served as the Accountable Manager, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations. She is currently re-appointed as a publicly appointed and sworn expert for aircraft over 5.7 tons MTOW, with a particular focus on business jets. Additionally, she is in her third term as the Chairwoman of the German Aviation Expert Association (GAEA) for the D-A-CH region. At her company, McXpert – Aviation Advisory & Appraisal, she is responsible for Asset Management & Appraisal, providing tailored solutions for the aviation industry.
