David Hierholzer is the regional head of mountain rescue services at Bergwacht Schwarzwald. He has many years of experience in operational command, operational organization and disaster control. After eight years working in the Land Rescue Service and at the Integrated Control Center, he completed a degree in civil engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He had already been volunteering as a regional manager for the mountain rescue service for eight years before taking on this role full-time on April 1, 2025. A central concern of his work is the optimization of the interfaces between the authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS) as well as the implementation of modern management approaches in the emergency services.
