June 27, 2024

Friedrichshafen – A new fly-in event aims to combine the history and fascination of flying with the future of aviation. The event at the Aalen-Elchingen airfield in Germany offers visitors an exhibition area and specialist lectures in addition to an air show.

From August 31 to September 1, 2024, the General Aviation community will meet for a fly-in at the Aalen-Elchingen airfield (EDPA) in Germany. The AERO organizers at fairnamic GmbH are organizing this new event in close cooperation with the local partners Luftsportring Aalen and Luftraum Süd. The event builds on the popular airfield festival organized by Luftsportring Aalen every two years since 1979. It brings the public closer to the fascination of flying and the future of aviation.

AERO Show Director Tobias Bretzel says: "We want to set new impulses and expand our portfolio. True to the motto 'Future meets History', we are delighted to be able to offer the community a platform for the first time in the summer where lovers of conventionally powered aircraft and enthusiasts of pioneering electric aircraft can exchange ideas.

"The fly-in is aimed at aviation enthusiasts, private pilots and families. A daily air show (depending on the weather) with electric planes and Luftraum Süd's historic aircraft such as the Beech AT-11 Kansan, North American T-6 Texan, Dragon Rapide and De Havilland Fox Moth as well as the Bücker 131 Jungmann and Fieseler Storch will delight aviation fans. Luftraum Süd will also be opening its hangar doors so visitors can view the extensive collection of vintage aircraft.

Visitors can fly to the airfield without slots and the low landing fee includes the shuttle service from the aircraft parking area and admission to the event. However, there may be restrictions during the flight demonstrations between 12 pm and 6 pm.

The option of camping on the campsite or under the wing of your own aircraft rounds off the concept of an uncomplicated and informal fly-in atmosphere.
